pounds weight.  Bitches, 24 to 26 inches at the
withers, and 100 to 120 pounds weight.

Grooming Low maintenance coat, but a brushing is appreciated.
Intelligence Intuitive, but can be stubborn
Temperament Docile, yet confident and bold
Trainability Bribery oriented methods work best
Color Fawn, red fawn, red, and brindle. A small white spot
on the chest is permitted. White elsewhere is considered a fault.
With children Can knock a small child down in enthusiasm.  Likes children and responds well to them
With strangers Guard dog instinct is there and they will put themselves between the stranger and the family
At Home Tend to be laid back inside and are active outside.
In public Puppies need to be socialized and puppy classes
are recommended.  Dogs need to be on leashes at
all times since the breed is not always friendly with other canines.

Today, the bullmastiff is both a companion animal and a guard dog.  The breed was developed in England by gamekeepers for protection against poachers.  Today's bullmastiff is quite capable of protecting the family that he knows and loves.  This is a breed requiring both responsible ownership; and of course, lots of love from a family looking for a great dog.
